Well an MOT is around £40 provided no work needs doing, Road Tax £185, insurance group 14 so circa £250 for someone like me (30, 13 years of driving, no crashes), and fuel is about £1.12p/l.
So it’s at least another £450 just to put you £195 car on the road.

That’s ridiculously cheap for registration costs. Here in Canada it comes out to over $500, and that’s not including insurance. Insurance would be another $800 a year at the lowest.
